ROEPER STUDENTS, TEACHERS, PARENTS, YOU’RE INVITED TO………….
THE MS WALK FOR TALK, a community event organized by the Middle School Student Government, which is being held on Friday, January 30, 2015, 3:30-4:30 on the Birmingham Campus.
The Roeper Community will take a walk in Birmingham carrying signs urging the larger community to talk about difficult topics. Signs will be motivational, positive in wording and tone. Examples:
· Don’t be afraid to have difficult conversations.
· Talk about Race.
· America needs all of us.
· Try asking questions.
· America, we need to talk.
· What would your poster say?
· Lean into DISCOMFORT
The walking route is roughly a square—leaving Roeper on foot taking Adams Road South to Maple, turning West on Maple, walking to Woodward, turning north on Woodward, taking Woodward to Madison, turning East on Madison, taking Madison to Worth, and taking Worth south, returning to Roeper. No permission slip is needed. Do not forget a SIGN!
We will meet on the gym stage at 3:30 on Friday for a brief informational talk before heading out for the walk. If you need sign supplies, see Emery or Colleen. Lisa Baker and Colleen Potocki will provide hot chocolate and cookies after the walk.
