The Middle School Director Search Committee has been meeting and reviewing resumes of candidates from around the country. Forty Six resumes were received by the Committee, and through our discussions we have narrowed the pool to a very strong group of 8 semi-finalists. During the coming weeks, the semi-finalists will be interviewed by the committee as we work collaboratively to narrow the group to 3 or 4 Finalists.
Once the finalists have been chosen, each individual candidate must decide whether to move forward in the process. If they choose to move forward they will be publically engaged in the interview process. To help us construct a broad pool of qualified candidates, it is our practice to maintain the confidentiality of interested parties at this stage of the process. This practice permits sitting administrators and educators comfortably placed in their current roles to engage in conversation and learn more about our school without negatively impacting their current positon.
Finalists will attend meetings with parents, faculty, students, and administrators where community members will be able to meet the candidates, review their credentials, ask questions, and provide written feedback to the Committee. These finalist meetings will be scheduled for February.
The Search Committee will review information collected, discuss their observations and notes from interviews and reference checks, and finally make their recommendation to me. I will do a final interview with up to two finalists before making an offer. It is our intention to name a new Middle School Director in March, and to have that person begin their full time duties at Roeper on July 1, 2017.
The search process at Roeper is unique in its inclusivity. Our team is made up of students, teachers and administrators, and they make a commitment to help ensure that community voices are heard in our process. It is difficult work – but it is also incredibly rewarding! Please join me in saying thank you to our Search Committee for their time, thoughtfulness, and the work they will do in helping to facilitate communication and information during this process.
