Roeper students and teachers are focused and dedicated to their learning and teaching. This dedication means that we sometimes push ourselves to prepare, to study, and to perform. We don’t want to miss a class, a test, a game or a performance – and yet, we have entered into a challenging time of the year – flu season!
The CDC recommends (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/takingcare.htm):
- That you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or other necessities. Your fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine, such as Tylenol®. You should stay home from work, school, travel, shopping, social events, and public gatherings.
- Stay away from others as much as possible to keep from infecting them. If you must leave home, for example to get medical care, wear a facemask if you have one, or cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue. Wash your hands often to keep from spreading flu to others.
Please help us take care of each other by making sure you are healthy when you come to school. You cannot engage at your best when you are sick, and the nature of the flu is that it spreads quickly and with intensity.
I am fond of reminding our community that we are interdependent – no more so than when it comes to the health of our community. If you are ill – please stay home, take care of yourself, and get healthy. School will be here when you return.
