Juniors: Break Time!

Dear Juniors:

With Spring Break coming up, many of you are planning to visit colleges.  If you haven’t made plans to visit out of state schools, it is a great opportunity to visit colleges in Michigan or in nearby states:  Remember, there are great colleges within radius of 4-5 hours—from Chicago to Indianapolis to Cincinnati to Pittsburgh to Toronto to Sault Ste. Marie!  Just getting on a college campus can create benchmarks for comparison.

If you’d like to start the college search process with some convenient visits to nearby colleges, here are some recent college visit opportunities:

Grand Valley State University hosts two upcoming Friday “Laker Experience Visit Days:” April 4, 6  or  7.  Representatives from academic departments and student services will be available to answer your questions.  Register by visiting www.gvsu.edu/visit, and click on “Events” or call 800-748-0246.

Bucknell University hosts “Gateway to Bucknell” on Saturday April 8 for sophomores and juniors.  Learn how you’ll be inspired inside and outside the classroom at Bucknell to innovate, grow personally and professionally, and make friendships for life.  Visit www.bucknell.edu/GatewayToBucknell.

Visit Aquinas College for AQ Day, Friday, April 21.  Sessions include academics, Athletics, study abroad and service learning, financial aid and scholarships with lunch and a campus tour.  Register at www.aquinas.edu/aqday.

Oakland University hosts Human Health Day with the Schools of Nursing and Health Sciences opening their doors on Saturday April 22 from 9:00-noon so you can explore exciting academic and research opportunities firsthand.  Register at https://www.oakland.edu/shs/  .

To make a full day of college visits, you can attend the U of M Dearborn Spring Open House on Saturday April 22 from noon until 4:00  pm. Attend mock courses, speak with students, faculty and staff and learn about degree programs, admissions, scholarships and financial aid.  Tour campus and see the new housing options.  To register visit www.umdearborn.edu/springopenhouse.

Wellesley College hosts its Junior Open House on Saturday, April 29.  Attend a sample class, have lunch, meet current students, attend info sessions and learn about admissions and financial aid.  Learn more at www.wellesley.edu/admission/joc.

SAVE THE DATE:  The annual Exploring Educational Excellence tour comes to the Doubletree Detroit/Dearborn (5801 Southfield Freeway, Detroit, 48228)  on Thursday, June 8 at 7:00 pm.  Learn about admissions to Brown University, University of Chicago, Columbia University, Cornell University and Rice University.  Registration is open and this event can fill up!  so register soon at:
