Junior Planning

Dear Juniors:

Many of you have had AP exams on your minds, but once the AP season winds down, it’s time to once again start thinking ahead to college planning! The year is flying by.  If we haven’t scheduled your Junior Family Conference, please contact Bridghette or me as soon as possible.

We must assume that any student who does not make a college counseling appointment this spring is not planning to apply to any colleges that have early deadlines (eg. U of Michigan, Michigan State, or any college with Early Action or Early Decision deadlines)

Next fall will be a very busy time, and I am planning to have done a lot of work over the summer to get ready for the flurry of fall applications. The counselor recommendation and school reports are very time consuming and also involve coordinating with teachers, colleges and students. If I have met with you all and have an idea of what you are thinking, this process will go smoothly.

After each meeting, I have sent a Conference Summary Report highlighting the discussion and giving some additional suggestions for colleges to research. Having a “list” of colleges to research over the summer can help you narrow down your list to a manageable number for the fall, and I can help you with that as well! Please continue to update me as your knowledge and preferences begin to crystallize.

Please Check your Roeper email on a regular basis! This is the preferred way I will be sending information to you, so please get into the habit. Don’t miss out on a great opportunity or important information because you neglected to check your email!

Check the white board near the SLC regularly as well.  Generally we will post timely information there for you to see.
