You are invited to join Roeper Reads this summer. This multi-faceted summer reading program is designed with the complex, creative, innovative children of Roeper in mind. Visit Roeper Reads to find out how to participate, as well as to find book recommendations and links to local public libraries. Bring back your completed forms during the first week of school. We will have parties to celebrate all the Roeper Reads! participants in the fall. Just bring your completed form to Carmen during the first week of the school year.
Why read? Reading over the summer is the best-documented way to avoid the “summer slide,” or loss of learning that often occurs when students are out of school for the summer. By simply reading at least five books over the summer, students can avoid this learning loss and even grow as readers! Listening to audiobooks or read-alouds are also options; for emerging readers and independent readers alike, listening to books read aloud is an important part of developing a lifelong love of reading. Make reading a part of your family’s summer!
(And remember to turn in your library books this week.)
