Lower school art teacher, Jarie Ruddy, guided Stage IV in creating an ofrenda honoring Annemarie. Here’s what Jarie told us about the project which is now on display in the Quad Building:
In anticipation of our traditional Halloween field trip to the DIA and Mexicantown to view the Day of the Dead ofrendas, Stage IV created their own ofrenda in honor of Annemarie Roeper’s centenary. Last week students learned about this beautiful Mexican tradition, saw photos of ofrendas created by community members in the past, and were visited by our school historian, Marcia Ruff. She shared some stories and wonderful images of our founder’s life. Each student wrote a short note of thanks to Annemarie and added it to our ofrenda. Also included are items Annemarie enjoyed like chocolate and Bach. Stop by to see it if you can! It will remain on view until November 9th in the lobby of the quad building.
