Lower School Diversity Day: Wednesday, November 4, 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This year the Lower School Diversity Day celebration is scheduled on Wednesday, November 4h. We will be focusing on the rich culture and many contributions of our Arab American Community. Arab Americans are important contributors to American society. They are scientists, astronauts, football players, writers, peace makers, pop stars, and a host of other professions. Many of their delicious food dishes have become a mainstay cuisine in many of our homes. We are pleased to honor our Arab American families and community this year.

SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY:

Morning regular schedule and classes
Lunch will be provided by Chartwells to all children that day.

12:30-1:25 pm Assembly
1:30-2:15pm Workshops
2:20-3:05 pm Workshops

SPECIAL LUNCH MENU FROM CHARTWELLS

Chicken Kabobs
Vegetable Kabobs
Baked Falafel
Fattoush
Hommous & Tabbouli

LOWER SCHOOL ASSEMBLY

Our students in Stage IV Diversity Mentors will take on a leadership role in the program and this year have been given the task to research interesting facts regarding Arab American people and culture.

Guest Performers – Arabic music ensemble from Maple School In Dearborn, directed by Catherine Prowse

In what has become a yearly tradition, staff, faculty and some parents will offer a special class/workshop different than the regularly scheduled class. Some will follow the theme of the day and some will offer other fun and engaging classes.

Sincerely,
