Thanks to Mary’s outdoor assembly and Jr. Sierra Club members helping in the cafeteria, Earth Day awareness was a BIG success! Students were challenged to “eat their food” and pack lunches in reusable containers to reduce waste. Jr. Sierra members helped peers sort food waste, packaging and recyclables. Recycling increased by 13 lbs compared to the previous day! Surprisingly, many students did not know to recycle milk/juice cartons. Hopefully Jr. Sierra Club will do a similar challenge at the start of next year.
