It’s not rain… it’s liquid sunshine!! We did not let the rains on Community Service Day dampen our Roeper Spirit. Every homeroom adjusted as necessary to ensure that everyone was safe and everyone engaged in service. We wove mats for people who fight these elements everyday because they do not have the safe, secure homes most of us enjoy. Students worked at the Pan Equus Animal Sanctuary in Oxford while others volunteered their service at World Medical Relief and Freedom House. Three of our groups headed into Detroit and worked with elementary aged students while others worked at Arts and Scraps. Other homerooms supported students who are battling pediatric cancer or headed out into the elements by working at Red Oaks and Palmer Park Gardens.
A very special thanks to all the teachers who helped to create these opportunities and ensure our students safety and learning. I have worked with many high school educators in my life. I have never been surrounded by so many versatile, caring, and committed people. Our kids are fortunate to spend so much time with this remarkable faculty. They inspired me today with their energy and positive attitudes.
