Congratulations to the nineteen members of Roeper Model United Nations who participated in the 43rd Great Lakes Invitational Model United Nations conference in Kalamazoo November 30-December 3, 2016. Joe Allen ’17, Ryan Mersol-Barg ’17, and Charlie Uchno ’18 were awarded Best Delegation for their representation of Israel in the General Assembly. Mersol-Barg was also awarded Best Delegate for his work on the Science and Technology Committee. Allen, Mersol-Barg and Uchno were all chosen as Major Speakers to address the General Assembly. Lukas Sznewajs ’17 received a verbal commendation for excellence representing Malaysia in the Security Council. This was the last GLIMUN conference for seniors LukasSznewajs, Ryan Mersal-Barg, Joe Allen and Kyler Cousens (L to R below).
Other Roeper delegates participating were Elliot Silk, Amanda Margolis, Josh Osgood, Annelise Ivanescu, Andy Grekin and Calvin Watry, all representing Vietnam; Carter Wade, Katie Booth, Maya Radhakrishnan, Emma Girolami and Jamal Alaswad representing Malaysia; and Alison Albrecht, Griffin Glick and Alex Calderwood representing Ethiopia.
Roeper delegates did extensive work in research, writing, and caucusing, representing their nations with distinction. Roeper’s Model UN advisers are Matt Vallus and Mike Ruddy. Roeper’s next conference will be the Model United Nations of the University of Chicago in February, 2017.
