Two Middle School teams, Tankbot 2.0 and Uncommitted, and the Upper School team named Blood, Sweat, and Gears will compete in Robofest World Championships at Lawrence Technological University on Saturday, May 19, 2018.
All three teams will be in the two rounds of this year’s Game, Automated Tennis Ball Collector, first rounds conducted from about 10:20 – 11:45 am, the second rounds running from about 1:40 – 3:00 pm in the Lawrence Tech Field House – Gym, Building 13, 21000 West 10 Mile Rd., Southfield MI 48075. Final awards and closing ceremonies about 3:50 – 4:30 pm. No admission charge, noted food trucks will be on site for lunch and coffee, etc.
The Robofest Game competition differs from others because the robots are not remote controlled. Each robot must be programmed to autonomously find its own way around the playing field and complete the game tasks during the two-minute round. The teams must adapt the robot to accomplish new, unknown tasks with just one half hour of programming and practice before each round.
Three other student robotics competitions will be going on in parallel with the Game final rounds. Teams are expected from Michigan, Ohio, Nova Scotia, South Africa, India, Korea, China, and Ghana.
Come see our Roeper Robotics teams – and a LOT of other teams! – in action! Additional information available at www.robofest.net/index.php/current-competitions/world-championship or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
