From Middle and Upper School Choir Director, Abha Dearing:
Just to let you know, our Middle School combined choirs did exceptionally well at State Choral Festival. They impressed the judges with their stage deportment, their execution of challenging literature, observed 7-8 different choir performances (at least 25 songs!) and learned some great choral techniques from a fine Rutgers Choral Professor, Dr. Brandon Williams. They were like sponges, engaged in the moment and fully participated in the experience of the day.
They do not get a rating at the Middle School level–it is considered prestigious enough for them to qualify and they received participation medals. Fostering the love of singing is the priority! BUT, they still got points towards a rating, which I added up and discerned that they would have received an Excellent!
