Donations Requested for Nurse Midwives

clean-birth-kit-contentsStudents in the Middle School Leadership class are having a drive to collect supplies to help obstetric medical facilities in poorer nations.

Last week midwife, Sarah Maquire, a U of M professor and Roeper mom, talked to about two dozen Roeper Birmingham campus teachers and students about a program that she runs that takes U of M. graduate midwifery students to nations like Uganda, Haiti and Liberia to give the students practical experience while aiding in local women’s delivery of healthy babies.

Sarah and her students collect supplies like wipes, baby blankets, old stethoscopes, mosquito netting and money. The Leadership class is asking you to make donations to this worthy cause.

There will be a collection point in the Domes Lobby if you would like to donate. Emery Pence is the teacher of the class so contact him with questions!

HERE is information about the Nurse Midwifery program at U of M!
