WINTER SPORTS

Boys’ Varsity Basketball – by Coach Andahazy
The week of February 8th brought two more victories to the Boys Varsity Basketball Team. On Tuesday, the Roughriders quickly dispatched Lutheran South. The team was led by David Gardner and Xavier Thomas who both scored in double figures.

On Friday, classic Taylor Baptist Park officiating kept the game close. The Roughriders finished an exciting game with only 5 players (2 of those 5 also had 4 fouls). The Roughriders were led by David Gardner, Noah Gilman and Nate Lee’s double figure performances, however it was Ben Katzman, Randy Pierce and David Lee who help seal the Roughrider victory.

The Roughriders were back in action this past Friday at Baptist Park. The team fought hard in the first half and were able to go into the half tied at 14. The second half proved to be a different story for the Roughriders, as their shooting went cold. They continued to fight but came up short 36-14. The team was led by Griffin Siegel with 6 points and Asher Moskowitz with 4 points.

Despite the great effort from the Roeper Roughriders, they fell to the Crusaders of Allen Park Inter-City Baptist 43-36 making their overall record 10-6. Coming up next week for the Ladyriders is Franklin Road Christian Tuesday night (2/16) @ 7 in the CCB, and the University of Liggett Friday night (2/19) @ 5:30 at Liggett.

MS Boys’ Basketball A, B, C Teams – by Coach Zinser
On Monday, February 8th, the Roeper A and B teams hosted Middle School powerhouse Southfield Christian.  The B team was able to hand the Eagles their first loss of the season 32-28 led by 9 points by Kayden Pierre.  The A team played an incredible game which came down to the wire but eventually fell 46-42. It was the closest game that the undefeated Eagles had during their season.  The Roeper C team finished their season with a strong effort against Inter City Baptist on Thursday, February 11th, but lost 30-14. Although the C team didn’t win a game this season, they improved a great deal and were much more competitive as the season went on.
