The Varsity Girls Soccer team had a challenging season this year, with only 13 girls coming out for the team. The season started strongly with two wins. Over the next couple of games, Alyssa Flynn and Adwoa Tandoh succumbed to injuries. The team then proceeded to play the remaining games with anywhere from 9 to 11 players. Despite these challenges, the girls played hard in every game and never gave up. Their skills improved and they were generally able to implement what was worked on in practice into their games. They finished their regular season with a 2-0 win over Southfield Christian and a regular season overall record of 3 and 10.
The team finished their season by playing their best soccer of the season during the second half of the district game. The girls went down 4-0 to Bishop Foley in the first half, but with a goal of winning the second half, they managed to score four goals. The game finished with Roeper losing 6-4, but with a 4-2 win in the second half, they accomplished their goal.
Alyssa Flynn, playing injured, scored three goals. Leora Bernard had the other on a header off a beautiful corner kick by Sophia Savas. With the defense holding strong, the girls gave it their all, and definitely left it all on the field. It was a positive end to the season.
