Roeper Junior Tristan Wilson was selected as the principal violist for the upcoming 2018-19 High School All-State Orchestra. The All-State ensemble is put on by the Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association each year and comprises students from across the entire state of Michigan. Students are given excerpts and scales to prepare for the audition, as well as being required to sight-read a short selection; that is, playing something they’ve never seen before and have only had 60 seconds to look over. These blind auditions are taped and sent to judges, typically university professors, who then select the participants. Being named principal means that the judges felt Tristan’s audition was the best of any High School viola player in the state! This is a truly big honor for Tristan, and we are all so very proud of him!
