Eleanor Gamalski ’11, Madison Gladney (9th Grade) and Emma Wine (8th Grade) have formed a group called The Roeper Justice League. At an informational meeting held at the home of Eleanor’s parents, Greg Gamalski and Lori Lutz ’75, they explained their cause. They are working to get an Earned Sick Time Proposal on the Michigan ballot in November by collecting signatures. They explained that half of Michigan’s private sector workers do not have access to paid sick time. Workers must either come to work while sick or leave a sick child at home to avoid losing pay. The proposal provides one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked for all Michigan workers. This would be about 72 hours for a full time employee. Part-time employees would also receive the benefit. If you want more information, contact Eleanor. Here are some photos of the gathering.
