Students in the U.S. Gov’t class invite parents, students, staff and, anyone else who is interested, to join them on Sunday, April 30 at 6:00 PM in the Acheson Theater on the Birmingham campus. The issue they will be addressing is the current ability of the political party in power to set state and federal voting districts to favor their party, effectively negating the votes of many people. This process is called gerrymandering.

Signatures are being sought to place a petition on the 2018 ballot to have an independent commission draw these legislative boundaries thus removing the advantage a political party could have by gerrymandering the borders.

Please come to learn about this important issue from these involved students to decide if you want to participate. It should be an informative and inspiring event.
