Roeper Scores! – 2014 All-County Soccer Team

1st Team

Simon Roennecke, Birmingham Roeper, Soph. F — Roennecke helped lead Roeper to the Division 4 state championship. He had 40 goals and 36 assists this season. He was a Division 4 all-state first team selection. “Simon put the Roeper team on his back scoring all four goals in his team’s state championship victory,” Roeper coach Ed Sack said. “Dangerous with either foot and crafty enough to beat three defenders each time he scored in the championship game, Simon looks to be a threat for the record books for the next two years.”

Max Whipple, Birmingham Roeper, Sr. F – Whipple helped lead Roeper to the Division 4 state championship. He had 46 goals and 21 assists this season. He was an all-state Dream Team and Division 4 first team selection. “Max was a goal scoring machine this year posting 16 playoff goals,” Roeper coach Ed Sack said. “More than once this year he single handedly took over a game by scoring multiple goals less than a minute apart. Max ended his career with 102 career goals tying the Oakland County career goal scoring record.”

Coach of the Year Ed Sack, Birmingham Roeper — Sack led Roeper to not only its first boys soccer state championship, but the school’s first team state championship in any sport. The Roughriders’ high-powered offense scored 29 goals in seven playoff games. “We are exceedingly proud to be part of a group to bring Roeper its first team state championship,” Sack said. “Watching these kids that have made a choice to pursue excellence in the classroom and fulfill their dreams on the soccer field is beyond words. I really think they represent the true meaning of student athlete.”
