This past Saturday, The Roeper School Chess Team competed in the Michigan Scholastic Chess Club Championships in Ann Arbor. We are excited and proud to share the following results:
A total of 440 students competed in the tournament from around the state and across the border (Windsor).
The K-8 team took 7th place in the state. There were nine players participating in this bracket.
Kayden Pierre received 4.0 points and took 22nd place individually.
Blake Bottesi also received 4.0 points and took 20th place individually.
The K-5 team took 2nd place in the state. There were fourteen players participating, including three new members to the team.
Nathan Ouyang is the K-5 Champion.
Aiden Song received 4.0 points and placed 6th individually in the K-5 division.
In addition to the individual and team placements, we also had several situations where students persevered over extremely challenging game situations.
We are extremely proud of our team and their hard work!
Our next tournament is the Thinkers’ Challenge on Saturday, December 6. Specific details about the event will be forthcoming later this week.
