New Faculty: Introducting Stacey Barrett

Stacey is teaching 6th Grade Science and Middle School science electives.

I was born and raised in Detroit, graduating from Cass Tech. My family has been here for 6 generations and escaped to freedom crossing the Canadian border on the Detroit River.

I’m entering my 21st year of teaching.

I love performing and do community theatre with Stagecrafters in Royal Oak. I’m also a professional singer who has performed at many venues all over Metro Detroit including Chene Park and Arts, Beats and Eats festival. On top of this, I’m currently taking ballet!

I’ve been a part of the Roeper community as a parent since 2012 and now have  2 children here: a daughter in Stage 4.1 and son in Stage 2.1, and I am a “Roeper Kid” even though I never attended Roeper.

TV is my guilty pleasure and some of my favorite shows include Scandal, This is Us, Younger, Being Mary Jane, and Blackish and I highly recommend all.

I believe in the power of positive thinking and a growth mindset. I am a strong advocate for equity and social justice.

Welcome, Stacey!
