Former teacher and alum parent wins Kresge Grant

George Tysh, who taught at Roeper and is the parent of two Roeper graduates, Julian ’98 and Bruno ’03, was recently named a recipient of $25,000 from the Kresge Foundation. He was one of eighteen Kresge Artist Fellows chosen from over 650 applicants by national and local experts. This year’s fellows are literary and visual artists.  At Roeper, George taught English classes as well as critical analysis of film from 2003 to 2010. His wife, Chris, was named a Kresge Artist Fellow in 2010 for poetry. There’s an article with more information in the Free Press. Here’s something with an earlier photo (looks like about 40 years earlier) about George! (He’s in the top row with sunglasses – see if you can find him in the recent Free Press photo of the group!)
